Below are some FAQ’s for volunteers.
If your question isn’t answered below, please send us an email with your question.
Perth 2016 will accept any volunteers over the age of 18 years. If you are below 18 years of age, please send us an email to find out how you can be involved.
We ask that those interested in volunteering make themselves available for a minimum of four (4) shifts throughout the event – 20th October to 6th November.
The days and times available to volunteer will be provided to you after you apply and you can select from the shifts available.
If you aren’t available for four (4) shifts that’s ok; please still register and we can work with your availabilities.
We ask that volunteers be available for four shifts, as we have so many areas to cover throughout the 10 day event. By volunteers assisting in being available for a minimum of four shifts, we can provide a better experience for the volunteers as well as athletes.
We would like all volunteers to attend a training session to enable us to provide you with the most information to be successful in your duties.
However we understand that volunteers may have prior commitments that may stop them from attending. Please inform us closer to the training dates* and we will provide you with information via alternative sources.
*Training dates will be confirmed in August.
As a volunteer you will be given an accreditation that will allow you access to public transport organised specifically for Perth 2016. This public transport will be operational from the 23rd October through to 6th November. Timetables for public transport will be available closer to the event. Please allow enough travelling time to arrive at your shift on time.
Volunteers will receive a pack that includes a drawstring bag, event hand booklet, volunteer handbooklet, a pen and other surprise goodies.
You will also be supplied with a uniform that must be worn at all times whilst volunteers are on duty.
Depending on the shift you volunteer for, lunch or afternoon meal will be provided. Volunteers will be provided with refreshments throughout their shift.
If you have a friend or family member competing in Perth 2016, we suggest you select a shift that doesn’t clash with their competition time. Volunteers will be required to be in position for the duration of their shift and be provided with a break (timing of which cannot be guaranteed) to have a meal; therefore we can’t give volunteers the opportunity to leave their location to watch the competition.
If you sign up to volunteer and for some unfortunate reason you are no longer able to fulfill the role, please email us straight away so we can find someone else to assist.
