PRESS RELEASE: Big day out for the Masters

It’s Super Tuesday for the World Masters Athletics Championships tomorrow with more than 65 medals on offer.

As the weather hots up so does the competition with both the men’s and women’s 200m finals across all ages being contested.

At the upper end of the masters’ scale are the 90-99 men (1.15pm) and 85-89 women (9am) who are chasing gold.

US track legend Bill Collins is looking to complete the M65 100m, 200m double as is M40 UK sprint sensation TJ Ossai, who is defending his crown and set an impressive heat time and is looking to go under 22 seconds.

There are also the women’s 300m hurdles, javelin, discuss, shot put and pole vault all at the WA Atheltics Stadium and the 10,000m finals and shot out at Ern Clark Athletic Centre in Cannington.

The competition’s oldert female, Austrian Elfried Fuchs, will push for shot put gold at WAAS at 12.45pm.

The action kicks off at 9am at both arenas.
